Maybe your own!
Due to circumstances beyond my control I put my bike down on the highway yesterday. Actually before it went down I had it on the side of the road in the gravel. But it was a close thing. It was either put it down or hit the big farm equipment. I chose right I think lol. And I am glad my reactions were as quick as they were. It could have much worse!
Thank God for leather and my quick response to the situation. Bumped and bruised with both my left arm/leg (hit it on the handle bars) and my right side (from going down) very sore I lived through it. The bike actually fared better than I did although I knocked the handlebars and the turn signal loose with my arm and leg LOL! I got back on it once I checked it out (and made sure my arm still worked) and rode the rest of the way to work.
What caused it? A farmer out on a big sprayer truck who decided since he didn't see anyone behind him he could turn left without using his turn signal OR his brakes (or looking before he turned, he WOULD have seen me if he had looked). I think it scared him more than it did me though! Bet the next time he turns that thing he makes sure he signals!
So be very AWARE everyone when you are driving, either a 4-wheeled vehicle or a bike. Spring is the time for not only farmers to come out but us BIKERS too! As a biker I watch for other people because I don't expect them to see me. Now I learned a valuable lesson to watch the farmers even closer than I watch the cages (cars/trucks)!
Have a great day and if you ride ... ride safe! Watch out for those farmers! We value and need them but I wish they would remember there are other people using the roads too!
